Whether it’s a serial killer or a murder and revenge case, for me, the plots of the following five movies are more appealing.

How She Caught a Killer (Sept. 16, 2023)
A serial killer? Sex worker? And a rookie detective on the case? It sounds like the perfect, sensual territory where the Lifetime network thrives. However, this story draws its inspiration from real-world events (is there another kind?)
Sarah Drew stars as Linda Murphy, a rookie detective fresh out of the academy who overhears her boss talk about a serial killer targeting sex workers. Murphy then teams up with an FBI agent, Jamall Johnson, and fights for the right to go undercover to help solve the murders.
Stolen Baby: The Murder of Heidi Broussard (Sept. 23, 2023)
Stolen Baby: The Murder of Heidi Broussard is based on actual events and has the network returning to classic Lifetime movie territory. Young Sheldon’s Emily Osment stars as Magen, a woman who pretends to be pregnant to steal her best friend’s child.
Also starring Anna Hopkins (The Expanse), the story follows Magen and Heidi, the latter pregnant and going missing with her child a few weeks after giving birth. Will the cops on the case crack the twisted and elaborate plan? Something tells me they will.
Buying Back My Daughter (Oct. 7, 2023)
I don’t know about you, but when I read about a movie starring Meagan Good, I’m ready to hand over my money and time, no questions asked. Good stars as Dana and her husband Curtis (Roger Cross) search for their 16-year-old daughter Alicia (Faith Wright), who goes missing.
Also starring Ariana Madix as a police officer who helps investigate, Buying Back My Daughter is a tailor-made movie for Good, who finds her daughter for sale on the internet and is determined to get her back.
Murdaugh Murders: The Movie (Oct. 14 and 15, 2023)
It is a Lifetime television event for the network, their 500th film. Based on the highly publicized case of prosecutor Alex Murdaugh, who investigated the double homicide of his wife Maggie and son Paul,
Bill Pullman (Independence Day) stars as the disgraced attorney in a bizarre story that has captured the world’s attention.
Bad Romance: The Vicky White Story (Oct. 21, 2023)
A true story about a prison break and a romance where no amount of steel bars could keep lovers from opposite sides of the tracks apart? Then throw in the star of The Goldbergs, and you had me at bad romance.
Wendi McLendon-Covey stars as Vicki White, a lonely corrections officer who falls for a prisoner (Rossif Sutherland), and the only way to ensure their long-lasting love affair is if she breaks the man out of prison.
